"QPS provided us with quality candidates who are suited for our specific needs. The communication between the staff and my office is excellent."
Unless you've been living in a cave, you realize that there are many candidates fighting for the same jobs. Employers are being inundated with resumes. Are you waiting around for the phone to ring, or are you getting noticed? Below are a few things you can do to stand out in a tight job market.
I'm driven and ready to go: Don't settle for just dropping off a resume or applying online. Follow up with prospective employers unless you are specifically asked not to. Call them. Let them know you want the job. Include a time and date that you will follow up with them on your cover letter. All of this should be done without becoming a pest.
I'm well versed in my field: Get some certifications, start a blog, or write some editorials to get noticed. Put links to your work on your resume. Employers like short learning curves, so the less training you need, the more attractive you are. Let them know you are an expert in your field.
Tailor your resume: One blanket document is not good enough anymore. It may be necessary for you to have a different resume for each job opportunity. Make it sound as if they created the job just for you.
Whether in person, on the phone or in writing, you need to get the attention of hiring managers. You will find a job if you are doing this.
