Position Title: Hammer Operator

This Delavan location is looking for someone to operate one of their four hammer line machines ranging from 3500 lb. to 6000 lbs. All four hammers use the latest Lasco HOU programmable hammers. In addition, to having a fully equipped tool room and die maintenance area allowing to repair any worn tooling, the die racks allow for quick set up times when changing jobs. This location offers a 500-ton hydraulic steel shear, allowing for cutting of incoming bars to properly forging length. Really cool work!

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Thorough working knowledge of swabbing and hot trim, including set-up and adjustment - Set-up and operate mechanical presses - Read job set-up spreadsheets - Set up the trim press using correct procedures - Knowledge of the trim press and the ability to perform basic maintenance to ensure safety, output, and quality - Use various hand tools, including wrenches, sockets, and impact wrenches - Basic working knowledge of induction units

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Follow Standard Process Instructions (SPI), work instructions, and operating procedures to ensure that parts are produced/processed to required specifications- Initial inspection to be finally inspected prior to shipment by company personnel for defects or imperfections- Verify weights and measurements of parts- Record data into computer systems- Sort parts into bins that are needed- Load and unload parts at presses, furnaces, and deburring units- Coin and dip parts to prevent parts from rusting in rust preventative liquid- Package parts per specifications- Adhere to all safety procedures- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment- Complete training requirements as specified within the levels program
Requirements:- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.- Must have specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus- Must be able to work in moderately hot conditions (75-95 degrees)- Ability to write simple correspondence and communicate effectively- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers and decimals- Ability to learn basic statistical process control techniques, use micrometers, calipers and other gauges to collect data- Ability to safely work around moving mechanical parts on an occasional basis- Ability to work in an environment with moderate noise level
